The Petroleum Engineering Department, which was established in 1962, is the first study program in Indonesia to handle undergraduate education programs in the field of petroleum engineering, currently under the auspices of the Faculty of Mining and Petroleum Engineering, Institut Teknologi Bandung (FTTM ITB).
The Petroleum Engineering Study Program is divided into 2 Expertise Groups, namely the Reservoir Engineering Expertise Group and the Drilling Technique, Production, and Management of Oil And gas (TPPMM) Expertise Group.
The Drilling, Production and Oil and Gas Management Engineering Research Group is a group of expertise that has a spirit of togetherness in developing the ability of lecturers and works of international quality and real benefit to the national oil and gas industry through the implementation of education, research and community service.
Drilling Technique, Production, and Management of Oil and gas Expertise Group (KK TPPMM) is a merger of allied fields of expertise that were originally under the Department of Petroleum Engineering, in the context of teaching restructuring carried out by ITB. In KK TPPMM, a spirit of togetherness is developed to develop the ability of lecturers and strive to produce quality works at national and international levels that are of real benefit to the national oil and gas industry through the implementation of education, research and community service.

These efforts are in order to form a strong group of expertise in :

  • Contributing international standard education in teaching and guidance both from lecturers and teaching materials;
  • Producing works, both papers and other products, which are of national and international standards;
  • Creating an institution that partners closely and directly benefits the world of petroleum, especially Indonesia.

The objectives of the TPPMM KK program are mainly to:

  • Creating a conducive academic atmosphere;
  • The embodiment of the latest science and technology into the education and research process;
  • Standardization of educational processes and quality assurance;
    Curriculum development;
  • Link and Match between industry and oil and gas institutions with KK education and research;
  • Continuing Education.

TPPMM KK activities during 2017 included matters related to ITB research, collaborative research with other agencies, participation in national and international seminars, assisting in organizing Petroleum Engineer certification with the professional organization IATMI and the Society of Petroleum Engineers, as well as visits from foreign guests/ Domestically within the framework of national and international networks. The results of this KK activity can be in the form of scientific publication papers as well as sending prospective lecturers abroad to continue their doctoral program studies in the United States (University of Tulsa) and England (University of Aberdeen).
